Contributors Katherine Giscombe Katherine Giscombe, PhD, is Catalyst's Vice President and Women of Color Practitioner, Global Member Services. She designs and directs customized, solutions-based change initiatives with member organizations. With a long history at Catalyst and in the corporate world, she helps members use Catalyst knowledge as they create business-driven diversity and inclusion initiatives. She led Catalyst's groundbreaking study, Women of Color in Corporate Management: Opportunities and Barriers, and several subsequent indepth research projects on diverse women. Drawing from this unique background, Dr. Giscombe infuses her work as part of Global Member Services with an "insider/outsider" perspective. She raises awareness of, and generates solutions to, the subtle obstacles that still must be overcome for women of color and other marginalized groups to succeed in the workplace, thereby strengthening the workplace for all. M.J. Tocci M.J. Tocci is the Director and Cofounder of the Heinz Negotiation Academy at Carnegie Mellon University where she teaches negotiation. Tocci is the winner of the 2011 ATHENA women's leadership award and President of Fulcrum Advisors. Named by California Lawyer magazine as One of California's Most Effective Prosecutors, she has been an award-winning prosecutor and a teacher of trial advocacy, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills for 20 years. As an attorney, consultant, coach, and trainer, she has guided women at all levels to recognize and refne their leadership skills and has helped corporations and educators create environments that leverage those skills effectively. di ve rs i tywoma n.com > Tamara E. Holmes A selfdescribed bookworm, Tamara E. Holmes has turned her passion for words into a career as a freelance writer and editor. With 20 years of professional journalism experience under her belt, she has written hundreds of articles about business, careers, personal fnance, and health, which have appeared in such publications as Essence, Black Enterprise, Real Simple, AARP Bulletin, and Working Mother. Holmes also enjoys working with thought leaders as a ghostwriter, helping them to create an outlet for their unique voice and ideas. Pia Sarkar Pia Sarkar has been a journalist for nearly 20 years. She has worked as a staff writer for such publications as the San Francisco Chronicle, TheStreet.com, and The Bergen Record. Her beats have included small business, retail, and technology. Sakar is currently deputy editor of TheAmericanLawyer.com and The Am Law Daily, where she oversees coverage of the country's largest law frms. She is also an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association, and served as past president of its San Francisco chapter.
